When is SISP a problem?

It is generally agreed that any behavior is a problem when it causes noticeable damage to the self, results in emotional distress about the problem, or takes up considerable time in one's life through either engaging in the behavior or attempting to hide the results of the behavior. In more severe cases, individuals can suffer from impairment in social or occupational functioning through decreased social activities, lateness for work, and avoidance of activities due to embarrassment about the visible damage of skin picking.

About Skin Picking...

Severe skin picking appears to be a way for some people to increase their activity levels when they are bored, or to control their emotions when they are anxious, tense, or upset.
